Desperate search for missing submarine in Atlantic Ocean
The Titanic, the missing submarine carrying tourists to see the wreckage of the Titanic, has yet to be found. According to officials, the submersible now has less than 30 hours of oxygen to survive.
U.S. Coast Guard Capt. Jamie Frederick said at a press conference Tuesday afternoon that his forces were searching "around the clock" for the submarine, but had so far come up with no results.
He said, this is a complex operation covering a large area.
In addition to the US Coast Guard, the Navy, several teams from Canada are searching for the submersible in a remote area of the Atlantic Ocean. The Pentagon sent three military aircraft to search for the submarine.
Commercial companies operating in the deep sea also participated in the rescue operation.
Deep Energy, a commercial vessel carrying remote submersibles, arrived at the scene and took part in the rescue operation.
Oceanographer and wreck finder David Mearns told the BBC that Deep Energy's sub will be able to reach the wreckage of the Titanic at a depth of 3,800 meters and play a role in rescue operations
